Let's start with what should be achievable, not blue sky dreams. For seasons now we have had one of the worst injury/fitness problems. It would not cost a fortune to buy in a top medical and sports fitness team ( a lot less than most players get in a week). At least we would have the best part of a first team on the pitch each week and perhaps avoid the Dean Ashton and now Andy Carroll fiasco where we pay tens of thousands each week to someone who rarley stays fit for more than a couple of weeks.

A more consistent performance getting us into the top 7-8 would also make us a little more attractive to good players.

The Sultan would probably only consider doing that if he could make the Olympic Stadium an enclave of Brunei.

That would then mean strictly no alcohol or pork products on site, all the seats would face east and an obligatory 4 mothers-in-law each, even if you don't take up the full option on 4 wives.

The big nosed cunts from north London have managed it with a lower net spend and a lower wage bill than us.
Arsenal have been there 20 odd years without any of what you mention. In fact, it's only two of the current top 6 who've got there by people ploughing in a shit load of money. There are other ways. No chance under this pair of fuckwits

The Sultan of Brunei or some such rich fucker to come.out of the woodwork and declare that they have always wanted to own West Ham and buy every half decent and better footballer on the planet just in case the squad isn't big enough.

Re: What will it take to make West Ham capable of competing for the top 6 and titles?
It does not take more astute owners at all. It just takes obscenely rich owners who treat the club as a plaything and will keep pouring cash into it hand over fist. I am not defending our owners at all but saying if they were smarter we would be top 6 is complete garbage. They don't have the money to get us to top 6 consistently. Look at Chelsea and Man City it has taken owners to come in who couldn't give a monkey's if as a club they lose millions every year. It is not a business to them but a hobby.

More intelligent owners, a greater focus on buying young players with talent, and lots of time.

A fit current squad would be good enough for us to get in the top 8

A lot of money along with savvy astute owners, board members, coaching staff. If it can happen with Man City why not us?

Different owners and ones with 500 million - 1 billion to spend on the squad over 3 - 5 years.

About £400M!

boleyn

it's nothing to do with crowds, when you have owners as rich as Man Citys then they find other ways of funnelling money into the club, like sponsoring their own training ground for tens of millions each season, or having the ladies team pay the club tens of millions for 'infrastructure'.

Re: What will it take to make West Ham capable of competing for the top 6 and titles?
Never. Going. To. Happen.
The reason is that to do this we have to have a squad of top players. These players already go to the top clubs. Even the ones that are not top drawer wont come to us. Look at Lacazette, Batshuyui to name but two.
Even if we then get a top side together we then would find the other top clubs cherry picking our players and the owners selling as per usual.
So no we will not become a top 6 six side. Even when we had the iceland millionaires and Craig Bellamy was turning into a top player we still sold him so owners with money can't even keep hold of good players.

Oh and please FFP, that's already proven to be a load of crap. Man City got a small slap on the wrist and continue buying players for £50m +, Laporte being the latest, all on smaller crowds than we get.

If we don't sign, which we won't from the look of it, at least 3 players we will get relegated.

Re: What will it take to make West Ham capable of competing for the top 6 and titles?
I would imagine in the early rounds of the Europa League, especially qualifying, we would lose money hand over fist. This has been proven to be the case in the past for teams in the early rounds.

The prize money would cover the additional stadium costs over the 25 games. Same with European football.

I think there has been a couple of rumblings about wages being maxed out, which is code for FFP.

Maybe they’ve realised people are wise to that ruse now.

Re: What will it take to make West Ham capable of competing for the top 6 and titles?
I'm actually surprised that the owners haven't used this as an excuse for not moving to the next level.....

Re: What will it take to make West Ham capable of competing for the top 6 and titles?
Indeed, the extra revenue outside of the central PL funds would have enabled us to add to our FFP 'allowance'.
